What
is the Occluded vertebral artery test? |
|
An
occluded (to become
closed; obstruct) vertebral
artery does not deliver enough blood to the brain and is therefore a
dangerous situation. To
perform a vertebral artery test, ask the client to extend his or her head.
Watch the eyes for 15 seconds and note if one or both pupils dilate. Ask a
couple of easy questions (their name and where they are). Look for any
signs of confusion or disorientation. If there are any of these signs,
they may have an occluded vertebral artery. Do not perform any neck work
and refer the client to their GP. |
